aspsimon.org – simon's various programs
on this page you will find a collection of (hopefully) useful programs and scripts. and what have you. at the moment it is going to be very very bare bones, as i'm still setting things up.
who is this simon anyway?
simon is a computer science student at the university of innsbruck. for kicks and giggles he also works as a sysadmin at the institute of computer science at the university of innsbruck ($DEITY, what a mouthful …).
simon has been working with computers since he was about 8 years old. about the same age he started playing trombone and he's still doing both, but that's irrelevant right now.
simon's programming experience ranges from bbc basic learnt as a kid (doesn't really count anymore), turbopascal at school, then as a more practical thing, ASP/VBScript for almost 3 years. since he started working at uni, that skill set was extended by C, bash, perl, php and of course java. simon has played around with some functional programming languages, but hasn't really wrapped his mind around any practical use for one yet (except for the fine program lilypond).
most of simon's projects have been in some way related to the web programming paradigm ranging from simple content management systems to complex financial apps for an insurance company. simon considers himself very proficient in mysql and fairly well versed in postgresql. brief contact with oracle and db2 have convinced him that mysql and postgresql are perfectly suited for small projects, but that big jobs require big weapons. :)
so what's here then?
aspsimon.org is simon's pet project hideaway. there'll be a collection of random projects around here. cdlib and the framework to go with it will probably be one of the main projects here.
whatever tickles my fancy software-wise will end up here as well. i might put up a sysadminning wiki just to keep track of what i'm doing and to keep track of easy fixes. i've also got some php software that could do with a dust-off and publication, so there'll be some activity.
projects
- cdlib
- cdlib is a multi-component program for managing a library of cds. originally created as a project for a programming course, it is the first implementation of a generic framework for managing almost any form of data in a library, be it cds, dvds, digital music files, digital films, books, …
- useful javadoc thingies
- at the moment there is only a taglet for adding todos to
classes, methods, package and overview documentation.
i will add a doclet which creates css-able html at some point.
